A Decade of Compassionate Care, Advocacy, and Community Support Serving the District of Columbia Since 2016
Priority Health Systems, Inc. was established in May 2016 with a mission to help individuals and families navigate complex healthcare and social service systems while promoting independence, dignity, and overall well-being. Founded by experienced healthcare professionals with backgrounds in nursing, case management, care coordination, and community-based services, the organization was created in response to the growing need for compassionate, person-centered support within underserved communities across the District of Columbia.
Through years of direct experience working with vulnerable populations, we recognized that many individuals faced barriers accessing healthcare, behavioral health services, long-term support, housing resources, transportation, and public benefits. These challenges often made it difficult for individuals to maintain stability, independence, and quality of life. Priority Health Systems was founded to bridge these gaps by providing coordinated care, advocacy, and supportive services tailored to the unique needs of every individual we serve.
BUILDING A FOUNDATION OF TRUST (2016–2020)
During its early years, Priority Health Systems focused on delivering high-quality case management and care coordination services to older adults, individuals with physical disabilities, and underserved populations throughout the District of Columbia.
Our team worked closely with healthcare providers, community organizations, government agencies, families, and support systems to help individuals access healthcare services, coordinate long-term care, secure community resources, and maintain safe and stable living environments.
Throughout this period, the organization became recognized for its professionalism, responsiveness, and commitment to advocacy. We helped clients navigate healthcare systems, access Medicaid and public benefits, coordinate transportation and housing support, and overcome barriers that impacted their ability to live independently within their communities.
EXPANDING COMMUNITY IMPACT (2020–2024)
As the needs of the communities we served continued to evolve, Priority Health Systems expanded its services and strengthened its role as a trusted community-based provider throughout Washington, DC.
Through continued partnerships with healthcare professionals, managed care organizations, social service agencies, and community partners, we gained extensive experience supporting individuals facing complex medical, behavioral, social, and environmental challenges.
Many individuals required support related to behavioral health conditions, substance use concerns, developmental disabilities, housing instability, social isolation, limited access to healthcare resources, and other barriers affecting their overall well-being.
This experience reinforced our belief that successful outcomes require a holistic, integrated approach to care—one that addresses the whole person rather than a single diagnosis or condition. During this time, Priority Health Systems continued investing in staff development, quality improvement initiatives, compliance systems, and stronger community partnerships to better serve individuals and families across the District.
EVOLVING TOWARD INTEGRATED CARE (2024–PRESENT)
As behavioral health and substance use needs continued to rise throughout the District of Columbia, Priority Health Systems recognized the importance of expanding beyond traditional case management services.
Building upon nearly a decade of experience in care coordination and community support, the organization began developing a comprehensive integrated care model designed to provide accessible, coordinated, and person-centered healthcare and human services under one organization.
This expansion included the development of:
- Mental Health Rehabilitation Services (MHRS)
Providing recovery-oriented support services that help individuals living with mental health conditions improve daily functioning, maintain stability, and achieve personal recovery goals.
- Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Services
Offering evidence-based treatment and recovery support services for individuals affected by substance use disorders and co-occurring conditions.
- Developmental Disabilities Services (DDS)
Supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities through personalized services that promote independence, self-determination, and community inclusion.
- Psychiatric Evaluation and Medication Management
Providing psychiatric assessments, diagnosis, treatment planning, and ongoing medication management services to support long-term mental wellness.
By integrating these services, Priority Health Systems continues working toward a coordinated continuum of care that supports recovery, independence, stability, and improved quality of life.
